The special election in Massachusetts is quickly becoming the bellwether on the confidence of the Democrats of the chances of the healthcare monstrosity being passed. Scott Brown, a Republican who has claimed that he will vote against the bill, recently took the lead in polling. They are so out of touch with the will of the people in this country that they don’t believe that Brown’s sudden surge is indicative that people don’t want healthcare. Instead, they are using the potential loss of their filibuster proof majority as a motivation to rush it through. They are desperately trying to cobble together some Frankenstein piece of legislation that will satisfy the populist House and the more prudent Senate. They have even been laying the groundwork, should Brown actually beat Martha Coakley, to keep him from being officially seated, despite the protestations of Barney, Mr Truth and No Consequences, Frank that Democrats would never delay a duly elected Senator from being seated. MSNBC reported that Taxachusetts election officials said it could take weeks for Brown to be seated. That’s a funny thing, considering that in 2009 they changed the rules to allow the Massachusetts governor to appoint someone to fill the vacant Senate seat (rather than wait for the result of the special election) so that the Democrats could maintain their 60 vote majority and bypassed the vote counting rules altogether in 2007 to help Democrats in the House. On one hand they are preparing for losing the majority, on the other, they are buring the midnight oil to get it done.
The Democrats realize that time is short to push America over the edge into outright socialism and are not holding anything back. They know that what they’re attempting is not something Americans want or that it is even constitutional. When Pelosi was asked where exactly in the Constitution was authority derived to legislate healthcare reform, she replied, not once, but twice – “Are you serious?” The problem is that she is serious and doesn’t care one bit if it’s Constitutional or not. It grows government therefore it must be passed. But time is not on their side; their window of opportunity is fast shrinking. Aside from the upcoming special election in Massachusetts, many polls across the country show Democrats losing heavily if the November elections were held now. If they are going to orchestrate the greatest government takeover in American history in order to take us down the path of socialistic mediocrity, they have to do it now. They are as bad as a drug addict who knows what he is doing to himself will kill him. They know that they will lose their majorities for pushing healthcare, but they stubbornly push ahead anyway.
Is there any way to stop the healthcare express? I believe there is only a slim chance – the Democrats in the House and Senate will reach a compromise that no one likes or wants in order to get this on to Obama’s desk before November, no matter what the results are in Massachusetts. Once it gets passed, even if Republicans take the House and Senate, Obama will veto any attempts to tear it down. That chance is predicated on our involvement. We MUST call our representatives and let them know that we do not support this going forward and that they will pay a price for voting for it if it passes. It is time to let them know that they must answer for spending more money than we have, for creating bigger government and for not being responsive to the people. If we don’t, we can kiss our Republic good bye, because while the Democrats are short on time, they are definitely willing to make the most of it. The Democrats are definitely out of touch, but unfortunately it is America that is about out of time.
