A Right Forsaken

November 29, 2010 22:02 by KRM

In 1965, in Connecticut v. Griswold, and again in 1973 in Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court determined, and then re-affirmed, that the United States Constitution guarantees a right to privacy.  This manufactured right has been used to defend the right to abortion now for almost 40 years, but could be facing its biggest challenge ever.

The TSA has completely and totally exposed that the right to privacy is nothing but a myth of convenience.  If the federal government truly believed that the Constitution protected some sort of right to privacy, then Americans travelling by air would not be subjected to full body scans that create near naked images or invasive pat downs that are so offensive they’ve been termed “gate rape”.  It has gotten so bad, that in some corners of the blogosphere, the TSA has been re-branded with the moniker T&A.

In Connecticut v. Griswold, Justice Douglas wrote “The Fifth Amendment in its Self-Incrimination Clause enables the citizen to create a zone of privacy which government may not force him to surrender to his detriment.”  Yet the TSA is doing exactly that – forcing citizens to surrender their zone of privacy in order to fly.  What is really sick is that the TSA isn’t just targeting groups known to have threatened the security of this country or attempted to take-over airplanes, but everyone.   By now you probably have heard the stories about what is now happening, in the name of safety, at security checkpoints.  When the TSA is forcing five-year-olds to have pat-downs and liberals, the likes of renowned feminist Gloria Allred, are defending the process because, “it was a first time anybody touched them [her breasts] in a long time and frankly, I liked it,” you know that the right to privacy is a joke.

If liberals really believe that we have some sort of privacy, but are willing to endure giving it up in order to be safe and still politically correct, then per a twist on Ben Franklin’s famous axiom, they don’t deserve either privacy or security.  If they don’t deserve privacy, and are even willing to give it up for a quick thrill, they certainly don’t have a right to kill unborn children.

Generosity of giving benefits the neediest in society. With government shortfalls charities are asked to fill the hole. The Church of Friends is part of a multi-faith based plan to raise funds for needed shortfall. A person can volunteer. ask-god.me/.../churchoffriends.html
